REVIEW: Youngman Megastep GRP Platform Steps

It’s time for another review here on the Browns Ladders blog. This time we’re looking at one of our most popular products, the Youngman Megastep GRP Platform Steps. Read on to find out more about the product and its benefits.
The Megastep GRP Platform Steps offer something a little different to the traditional steps we stock at Browns Ladders. They’re made of glass fibre, meaning they’re non-conductive and one of only two products in our fibre glass platform step range.
Four options to choose from
The platform steps come in a range of sizes. The smallest has two treads and a platform height of 235mm, while the largest has 8 treads and a platform height of 1700mm. There are four sizes within the range and the number of treads goes up by 2 with each product.
The benefits of fibreglass
As we mentioned above, the product is made from non-conductive fibreglass. This is a great perk for a number or industries and means the ladder is ideal for working around electricity and power lines.
While the Megasteps may weigh more than aluminium platform steps, fibreglass stepladders are definitely the best choice out of all the other non-conductive options (for example, wood.) Fibreglass is lighter and as a result, much easier to lift, move and transport.
Designed with safety and comfort in mind
As with all Browns Ladders products, you can be assured of safety with the Megasteps. The steps have been certified to BSEN131 trade standard. Each step has adequate space for a worker to manoeuvre himself or herself up and down the ladder – in fact they’re just over 85mm wide!
Handrails have also been implemented into the design for increased safety when walking up and down the ladder as well as when working on it. A safety chain, which sits behind the worker, also adds another layer of security and helps to prevent falls from a height. What’s more, the 370mm x 568mm platform is easy and comfortable to work from.
