Case Study: Zarges Creaxess solution for Learoyd Packaging
12/03/2015
In today’s post, we’re taking a look at another customer case study. This time, it’s the turn of flexographic print specialists, Learoyd Packaging, based in Burnley.
Having heard about our bespoke access solutions, Learoyd Packaging approached us to see if we could provide a solution to suit their needs.
The company wanted us to supply some access steps for their print machines – similar to the access steps they already had, but simpler and a lot easier to use.
Having identified the company’s main requirements, our team set up a visit to their premises to gain further insight.
Identifying the problem areas
During our visit, we took some measurements of the steps that were currently in use and assessed what difficulties the company had with their current steps. We identified a number of problems, including the following
- The treads were set up at about 65 degrees, making them quite steep to climb.
- The top platform was undersized for the task that employees were using the steps for, making it unsafe to work from.
- The steps didn’t have any wheels on them either, making them awkward to move. This, in itself, created a real manual handling issue and risks of injury to employees using the steps.
Considering all the current problems and the requirements for a new access solution, we advised the company invest in a Zarges Creaxess solution.
The Creaxess is an innovative new product that allows us to piece together a bespoke product to highly detailed dimensions and specifications.
Designing a Browns Ladders solution
The product we designed for Learoyd Packaging had steps sitting at a 45-degree pitch, making them easier and safer to climb.Â
We also implemented a deeper top platform so that the operative would have more room to move while stood and working from the platform.Â
A stabiliser bar was also added to the base of the steps with rear mounted castor wheels.
This meant that when the steps needed to be moved operatives could simply tilt the steps backwards onto the wheels, making them easier to move and transport.
Flexibility to create access equipment to suit your needs
While this solution was perfect for Learoyd Packaging’s access problem, the Creaxess steps can be adapted to solve a wide range of access difficulties.
It can be made to many different configurations of height, width and depth with numerous handrail and guardrail combinations too.
The manufacturers also produce a CAD drawing of the steps, which we can take to the customer for them to approve before ordering.
The 3D design, along with its most important characteristics, allows you to visualise how the item might fit within your space.
